In 1896, brothers August and Gustav
Heidsieck formed Kamenzer Maschinenfabrik Gebr.Heidsieck in Kamenz,
Germany, and produced platens
based on the Boston Principle. One
recognizable feature was the shovel
handle lever.
After WWII, Heidsieck
found themselves in East Germany.
Like many other manufacturers of the time,
Heidsieck became state-owned, and
in the early 1970s, the company was absorbed
and became part of VEB. In the 1992,
after the wall came down, it was purchased and privatized by a new owner.
Today,
the company continues to be in
business the under the name of
Kamenzer Maschinenfabrik GmbH -
designing, building, commissioning
and servicing various machinery
requirements for clients.
