OCAD Students Visited HIW Museum
Prof. George Walker brought his students for a visit to the Howard Iron Works Printing Museum recently. The students were introduced and treated to a live demo on one of the Linotype linecasting machines in the Collection by Myron Peniak. The visit also gave the students an opportunity to explore other equipment and peripherals used in letterpress printing and bookmaking.
Founded in 1876 as the Ontario School of Art, the institution grew to become OCAD (Ontario College of Art and Design). In 2004, OCAD relocated to the Sharp Centre of Design, an award winning architectural landmark on McCaul Street in Toronto. To reflect the university status that was granted in 2002, OCAD officially changed its name to OCAD University in 2010.
