Hacker Mfg Co. was founded by Horace Wardner Hacker, in the late 19th century. Other products made by Hacker were plate gauges and proving presses under the name of Potter and Poco. In 1937, Vandercook & Sons purchased Hacker, stopped production of their presses but still allowed them to continue making and marketing the plate gauges under Hacker’s name.

Our plate gauge has “HACKER” cast on the body and a Hacker Mfg. Co. nameplate. Hacker made plate gauges up until 1950.
