In the early 1930s, Addressograph Company and American Multigraph Company merged to form a formidable force in the print industry. Addressograph-Multigraph Company later changed to AM International. AMI closed in 1982 due to its inability to keep up with new technology and stiff competition from Xerox. During the next five decades since the merge, AMI flooded American offices, schools, and print shops with their machines - Multilith offset duplicators, Addressing machines, Varityper typesetters, and many more.
