Description:
German made by a rather large company that manufactured a massive variety of machinery – Maschinenfabrik A. Hogenforst, Leipzig. Some variants were guillotines and wood-working machines, but letterpress platens were also a successful machine all over Germany.
In the world of printing presses, Hogenforst was much like Golding in that they tailored machines to the smaller or hobbyist printer. Our RAPID is such an example - well-made and the standard German “Boston Principle” arrangement. With the ability to be sold as both a table-top or with optional base and treadle, a floor model.
We assume our press to be built in the 1920’s, but further study needs to be done to narrow down the age.
