Description:
An extremely rare machine. The R.Hoe & Company was an early pioneers of “metal decorating” - the printing by the planography process onto tin or other metal sheets. This cylinder press is based on the Hoe letterpress design, however, with a specially hollowed out bed to accept the fine limestone, usually quarried from select areas in Germany, France and USA. To reverse the image, an additional impression cylinder and crude dampening apparatus was added.

In 1796, Alois Senefelder, a German, is recognized as the inventor of Lithography.
